Bras After Breast Implant Removal Surgery

To ensure a smooth recovery you will need to follow the instructions of your surgeon. Many surgeons provide you with the required post surgery bra/compression garment, and some don’t.

Examples of what type of bras to wear post surgery

You will need to wear a compression bra or tight fitting sports bra for at least 6 weeks after explanting.

The maximum benefits of compression are to prevent fluid build up, circulation stimulation, lymphatic drainage acceleration, scar minimisation, reduction of post surgery infection risk, pain reduction.

Try to find a sports bra that zips up at the front this will make it easier for you to get on and off. If you can’t go for one that has fasteners at the back and do up in front and spin back around slipping straps over your shoulders.

The following are just an example of the sort of bra that is suitable for post breast implant removal surgery.

Any hard friction or rubbing on your incision can cause damage and irritation so you need to wait until it is fully healed before you wear underwire bras.

I personally wear the Triumph TRIACTION SEAMFREE TOP Sport Bra Style # 10070560 sports crop top, it has high level support. The racer back styling and adjustable shoulder straps provide extra support, whilst gel hook and eye prevents unwanted rubbing and irritation. I have been buying this bra since 2010 and I can run in it with little or no breast movement.

I am in no way affiliated with Triumph nor do I receive commission for voicing my opinion of this bra.
